Photo Gallery: Sizzlin’ Moves On Day 1 of WEG Dressage

The first day of dressage is a wrap at the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games, and it was a hot one. Despite intermittent cloud cover, the strength of the sun combined with high humidity made for a stifling day. The action in the ring was equally hot (hello 19.9, Julia Krajewski!) with more heavy hitters up to bat tomorrow. With two team rotations down and two to go, it’s still anyone’s game. Go eventing.

Sir Mark Todd and McClaren (NZL). Photo by Leslie Threlkeld.

It’s been a doozy of a day at the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games, but thankfully the first horse inspection for eventing was fairly uneventful. On a jog strip lined tightly with spectators both along side rail and above the horses on steps, the photographers commented how well behaved the horses were — very little spice and shenanigans for four-star fit horses! Maybe they’re preserving their energy for what we know will be a grueling cross country test on Saturday.

Nevertheless, the horses looked fit and beautiful and we were happy to see them breeze through the inspection. Let’s meet the competitors we’ll be following closely for the next four days.

Wednesday Video from Kentucky Performance Products: New Zealand’s Least Scary Haka

The haka is a tradition of the Māori people of New Zealand. Essentially, it is a war cry performed before battle that is meant to both intimidate opponents and boost the morale of the tribe. The haka today has morphed into a performance to symbolize unity and strengthen the bonds of a community.

New Zealand’s All Blacks rugby team performs a traditional haka before every game. It’s intense, passionate, a little scary and weirdly attractive in a primal ‘these guys could definitely protect me and my stuff’ sort of way. Rugby players are no wimps, but the bulging muscles and psychotic expressions of the All Blacks probably don’t leave their opponents with a warm, fuzzy feeling about the upcoming game.

Badass, right?

We’d now like to share with you another haka out of New Zealand. Introducing the Kiwi WEG team. Take it away, boys.

Preparing to welcome our guests this evening 🤣 #practicemakesperfect #weg2018 #teamspirit

Posted by Jonelle Price Event Rider on Sunday, September 9, 2018

I can’t say their haka gets us shaking in our boots, but we know the New Zealand team is one to beat on horseback so, point taken. Go Eventing.

The event horses are settled in at the FEI World Equestrian Games at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina. This morning, competitors were getting in final jump schools, fine-tuning dressage movements and hacking around the all-weather bridle path.

While there is still quite a bit of construction happening on grounds, the paths for the horses are clear and they are able to easily move from stabling to the practice arenas. The Tryon crew are clearly working hard to put the finishing touches on the venue as quickly as possible.

The action really gets going tomorrow, with the eventing first horse inspection at 3 p.m. EST followed by arena familiarization. Dressage, reining and endurance all begin their competition tomorrow morning.

We are getting EXCITED. Jenni Autry and I are currently on the grounds at the venue, and Leslie Wylie and Shelby Allen arrive tonight to complete your EN team for WEG. The whole place is buzzing with activity, the horses look fantastic and the riders have their game faces on.

Welcome to WEG!

Monday News and Notes:

Mother Nature was unkind this weekend and unfortunately organizers were forced to make tough calls. Seneca Valley had to abandon Sunday’s competition after heavy rains created unfavorable footing conditions (for the horses and for emergency responders). We thank them for “making a brave and correct decision for the welfare of all,” as competitor Debbie Adams put it, and for looking out for the safety of participants. We also applaud Flora Lea and Marlborough Horse Trials, who are waiving late fees to Seneca entries that want to reroute to another competition.

Dunnabeck Horse Trials organizers were also forced to cancel in advance of the start of the event as Carbondale, IL was under flood advisories. We applaud them also for doing the right thing for the safety and welfare of the participants. It is never an easy decision for an organizer to cancel. They would have worked since the conclusion of the previous year’s event to prepare for the next. Unfortunately they cannot usually refund entries in the event of cancellation. Bills have already been paid. The investment has already been made. In the case of Dunnabeck, we hear that some competitors were unfairly critical of the organizers. Jana Lyle Ellerbusch has a message for them. [“The organizers actually saved us more than just money”]

Dressage rider Laura Graves has been selected as the flag bearer for the U.S. during the World Equestrian Games Opening Ceremony taking place Tuesday evening, September 11. Natalie Stevens took her time getting former Grand National runner Bob Hall transitioned from the racing to sporting life and the patience paid off. Mark Bellissimo Responds to Public Outrage Over WEG Groom Housing

Temporary groom housing at WEG. Photo via Facebook.

As the athletes and their teams began to arrive and settle in at the Tryon International Equestrian Center for the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games last week, there was an immediate concern regarding inadequate accommodations for the grooms who traveled with them.

It was expected that on-site, permanent housing would be available for grooms, but instead grooms were offered bunk beds in temporary tents. With Hurricane Florence expected to bring heavy rain to the Mill Spring, North Carolina area later this week, concerns have also been raised over the safety of the tents.

Following negative feedback on social media, Mark Bellissimo, co-founder and CEO of Tryon International Equestrian Center, released a statement today.

“I made a personal commitment to housing grooms on-site and I underestimated the demand. I was too optimistic. I made a mistake and I apologize. We are doing everything we can to rectify the situation,” Mark said.  “Our organization has always been committed to recognizing the importance of grooms. They are a critical component to the success and well-being of these equine athletes and we have the utmost respect for their daily work.”

He continued: “Without our grooms there would be no equestrian sport. You have my word that we will resolve all issues related to the grooms accommodations. We at TIEC, and the FEI, have enormous respect for the grooms and the vital work that they do. It is our greatest commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of the horses competing and the individuals who are responsible for their care.”

According to the statement, TIEC has been working on alternative options, including setting up on-site RVs and two-bed cabins with a toilet and shower. They have also arranged off-site accommodations at Rumbling Bald Resort with daily shuttles to the venue and are offering compensation for any off-site housing arrangements made by National Federations.

Images and video footage of the bunk beds set up in temporary tents have attracted particular attention on social media.

Mark responded: “We were asked by the National Federations to provide more on-site options and explored providing, as a very temporary solution, air-conditioned dormitory tents with showers and bathrooms provided close by until more RVs and cabins are available. However, this option has clearly not met our stringent standards. We are aware that it is not viable in the long-term and are urgently seeking alternatives.

“The National Federations and the FEI are working extremely closely with our team to ensure that our grooms are treated with the respect they deserve and given the opportunity to choose an environment that suits them and their horses best.”

Click here to read the full statement.

The EN team arrives on the grounds at Tryon tomorrow and will bring you full reports on ongoing construction at the venue, as well as updates on housing for the grooms. Keep it locked on EN for the latest and greatest from WEG.

Sunday Video from Total Saddle Fit: #Together: Phillip Dutton

#Together: Phillip Dutton

Horses continue to bring people #Together every day. And over the last few years, renowned Eventing competitor Phillip Dutton and his family have definitely witnessed this power firsthand. Not only did Phillip and his horse "Z" work together to qualify for #Tryon2018, but after Phillip's step daughter suffered a riding accident, the equestrian community banded together to support her during recovery. Hear more about the story from Phillip himself with our latest #Together feature below. 💕

Posted by Tryon2018 on Wednesday, September 5, 2018

In Tryon2018‘s latest #Together feature video, Team USA rider Phillip Dutton talks about his early life with horses and bringing along his “bit of a fireball” WEG mount, Z, a 10-year-old Zangersheide (Asca X Bellabouche) owned by Tom Tierney, Simon Roosevelt, Suzanne Lacy, Annie Jones and Caroline Moran, from the one-star level to the World Equestrian Games.

#Together can also apply to Phillip’s personal life. He and his wife Evie felt that sense of family and community when their daughter LeeLee Jones suffered a traumatic brain injury in a riding accident in 2016. The support they’ve received from the equestrian world and beyond has helped both LeeLee and the family fight on.

Sport Horse Nation Spotlight: 8 Working Student Gigs

In the market for a new four-legged partner? You may find your unicorn on our sister site, Sport Horse Nation. To help with the search, we’re going to feature a selection of current listings here on EN each week. We include the ad copy provided; click the links for videos, pricing and contact information.

Summer working students are ending their terms and heading back to school, which means professional barns are looking for hard working, eager, reliable individuals to take their place. Being a working student is your chance to immerse yourself in the professional equine world, further your education, and network network network.

There are tons of positions listed on the Sport Horse Nation Employment Opportunities category page. If you’re on the hunt for work, be sure to check it out, and scroll down to see eight working student and full time hire positions available now.

We’ll start with one of the best employment ads we’ve ever seen here:

working student for dressage barn with eventer fondness

Working student wanted for FL season. 3 months (January-end of March, early April) in Wellington taking care of dressage horses for CDI GP rider. Range of horses-this winter season will include breaking in a young horse to wear a saddle and longe, taking babies to their first outings, training changes on a young horse, all the way up to schooling piaffe and passage. Bring your own horse for 5 lessons/week!

Job includes transport for your horse to and from Florida, board, lessons, barn apartment. You need to enjoy horse care–that means grooming, turning in and out, bathing, cleaning stalls. You want to learn–you do not need to already know everything!–and you have a good sense of your strengths and weaknesses. You do not hate “the sandbox” but appreciate its ties to cross-country and stadium.

Job: Mondays off, split night check with me (no more than 3 per week), minimal time at horse shows grooming, and the opportunity to show your horse. Pretty regular hours for an equestrian job–we start at 7 and are done by 5. If you lack a horse, I have a nice TB mare I can lend you for the season.

You need: a car, or a truck and trailer (Thumbs up for own transport). I am not opposed to visiting WEF and have h/j friends who might be engaged to help you leap over things. I even have experience schooling jumpers, so I can help a bit. Happy to give you names of eventing clients and friends in private if you are interested.

Good opportunity for an eventer to work on dressage in a relatively positive, occasionally sarcastic, and often quite funny environment. Last year’s working student really appreciated her music tutorials–she came barely able to identify rock and roll and left singing Bruce Springsteen. High tolerance for NPR required.

Live in barn manager position for 8 stall barn near Minneapolis MN

Safe Haven Stable is seeking a live in barn manager for a small boarding facility starting in the fall of 2018. Easy going fun people, nice horses to care for, and heated barn in which to work. Duties include feeding, turn out, cleaning, etc. Must be able to move hay bales and feed bags. Ideal person will have a sense of humor and a love of horses. Compensation includes rent, utilities, board for one horse, and a stipend. See www.safehavenstable.com and safe haven stable on facebook.

Full Time Employment

Cairn O’Mount Stables’ expansion to Delchester Farm has created an opening for full time help. International event rider Susie Beale has been producing top horses and riders for 30 years. Travel to world-class events, work with FEI horses, and enjoy a team environment. Position includes all aspects of horse care, riding and competing opportunities available for the right individual. Salary commensurate with experience, with an adjustment should you bring your horse. Valid drivers license, previous horse experience, and positive attitude a must.

Working Student for 4* Rider at Active Facility in Sunny Florida!

Event barn under CCI**** rider Jennie Jarnstrom located in Apopka, FL (20 min from downtown Orlando). Active event barn with 30+ horses. Duties include but are not limited to am/pm feedings & turn out, stall cleaning, & other various barn chores. Benefits include DAILY riding opportunities and instruction, hands on experience working w/ horses both made and green, learning medical management skills & overall barn management skills.

Looking for someone with a willingness to learn and ability to take direction (and a joke). We have a great community ranging from older AA’s, to serious competitors, to some “bad to the bone” little kids, and everyone likes to have fun. It is hard work and long hours but we’ve also shared mimosas on the cross ties. The atmosphere and support amongst our clients is unbeatable. There are also potential opportunities to travel for shows (several FEI events on our schedule for this season) and to teach lessons, for the right applicant.

Accommodations are a shared 2 bedroom detached apartment, stipend & groceries, board for one horse. Minimum 6 month commitment required but longer commitment preferred, opportunity to turn into a permanent position. Position is FULL TIME (1 full day off) and most suited for someone between 18-24 years old. Looking for someone who can start as soon possible. No pets.

Working Students Needed in Near Future.

Law Eventing will be looking for a 4th team member to start anytime between now and December to get ready for the busy winter/spring season.

Interested individuals should be:
18 or older
have a riding ability of strong training level or above
own their own vehicle
be able to work consistently, be reliable, be mature, be alert, be energetic, be interested
must be able to pay for their own accommodation (we can probably help you find cheap local accommodation) and have the money to support themselves and their horse
must be able to commit through May1st.
must have their own horse that is: SOUND, SANE, and able to put up with the level of training you will receive

Our working students are expected to work 6 days a week, with vacation time in winter and summer, regular hours of 7am-4:30pm, show hours of ?-?. In exchange they receive full board on one horse, customized attention, many many lessons in whatever they need, help at shows, experience riding other horses, experience grooming at top events, ability to watch lessons given to people at their own level up to riders of 4 star calibre, and shipping when available.

On paper, our working students receive approx $2,200 a month in services. But if they are diligent and attentive and watch, what they can receive in learning about riding and the business far exceeds that amount. We have produced many many horses through the ranks and many riders. Our working students come for 6 months and the MAJORITY have stayed for over two years whether we like it or not lol.

Please realize this is not a ‘barn job’. This is an emersion into an upper level, elite, eventing program. It is a lifestyle, a pathway to a career. We operate as a family with a small group of people here and a lot of very nice horses.

Join the team at Caroline Martin Eventing!

Sam Griffiths retired his long time partner Happy Times during a sweet ceremony at Burghley yesterday. Now 19, the German bred gelding represented Australia at the 2010 WEG and London Olympics and finished well at numerous four-stars during his illustrious career. [A perfect send off]

The nights are starting to cool off and soon it will be time to yank the horses’ blankets out of storage and begin the daily ritual of over-analyzing the weather report and agonize over which layer of clothes to put on your horse every. single. night. until spring. Have fun driving yourself mad! [Kidding. Here are some tips to help decide.]

Wednesday Video from Kentucky Performance Products: Volunteers ROCK!

Eventing runs on volunteers and Rocking Horse Stables in Altoona, Florida, goes to great lengths to make sure their event volunteers are happy and having a good time. Because of this they have volunteers who have been coming back to help out for 15 and 20+ years! Some of their volunteers are boarders, some are locals, some are self-proclaimed ‘snowbirds.’ Others still knew nothing about horses when they started volunteering but got hooked on the sport (as you do).

Today’s video was created by Irene Doo and crew with support from the USEA Volunteer Incentive Program. You’ll meet some of Rocking Horse’s volunteers and hear all about what they love most about the job. Along with the video, Rocking Horse posted the following on their Facebook page, echoing how I think we all feel about the importance of volunteers and how much we appreciate them:

THANK YOU does not seem enough! Our volunteers are the best!!! They are an amazing and dedicated group of people that spend their weekends volunteering for long hours and in all types of weather, and many of them return the next day to do it all over again! They get here as the sun is coming up and are here until the last rider crosses the finish line. They give so much and ask for so little in return. Without them, we could not have these events, it’s that simple! The eventing community owes a huge debt of gratitude to each and every volunteer that gives their time at horse trials across the country and schooling shows alike. They are what keep this sport going and we so appreciate them! So thank you to anyone that has volunteered. Your commitment to this sport is invaluable!!!

If you live near Rocking Horse and are interested in volunteering, contact Volunteer Coordinator, Allison Thomas ([email protected]).

Monday News and Notes from Fleeceworks

Bailey looking good at 19 years young. Photo by Heather Scheel.

Some horses are worth their weight in gold but our Bailey is priceless. Royally bred to cut cows, he has instead excelled in show jumping, hunters, eventing and foxhunting. He knows his job and does it well with zero assistance (he prefers it that way), but he has the patience of a born teacher, too. In the last week he has been enjoyed by five different riders, going from the jumping ring to the hunt field to sedate up-down lessons. He’s all the proof I need that unicorns are real.

Posted by CHIO Aachen on Monday, August 13, 2018

We’ve ridden along on a lot of courses since helmet cams became a ‘thing,’ but it’s not often we get to hear the commentary of the rider after they’ve crossed through the finish, the horse has been cooled out and the rider has a chance to reflect on the round.

Andrew Hoy walks us through every step of his round at CHIO Aachen with Vassily de Lassos, a 9-year-old Anglo Arab gelding (Jaguar Mail X Illusion Perdue, Jalienny) owned by Andrew along with Paula and David Evans. Posting a clear round with just 1.2 time penalties, they finished fourth overall in the CICO3*.

Watch and listen how Andrew settles Vassily into a rhythm early on, sets up for the more difficult questions, and where he is able to make up time. All this while the speed technology of SAP tracks their progress around the course. Go Eventing.

Let’s Discuss: Getting Crafty With Ribbons

Ribbons won at horse shows may only cost a few bucks, but they are worth so much more. They represent the incredible investment of money, time and emotion given to be the best competitors we can be, the months and years spent developing a partnership with your horse, the fears and frustrations you’ve overcome, the joy of finally nailing that movement or leaving all the rails up or making the optimum time finally. Ribbons are our most precious memories. After years of actively competing, you likely have a nice little collection of them, too.

But what do you do with them all?

When we’re kids, the answer is easy — put those beauties on the wall! Cover every inch of your bedroom with ribbons, squeeze them between the horsey posters, pictures and paraphernalia. Hang them from the ceiling if you have to but let it be known you are winning! at being horse crazy.

One day, though, we might like to start leaning towards a more, ahem, sophisticated decor and begin to guiltily pack those years worth of old, dusty ribbons away. Or, if you’re like me, you move umpteen times during your twenties and hardly even have a chance to unpack the box before you’re moving again. But you just can’t fathom the idea of throwing them out, so you lug the box of horse show memories from dorm to apartment (or three) to crash pad and finally, to a house of your own.

Now what?

We’ve been in our house for a year now and I’m still unpacking. Partly because I’m trying to get rid of stuff as I go (why do I still have high school math notes?) and partly because when I’m home and relaxing there are many things I’d rather do than play the “does this spark joy?” game and then figure out where to put everything I choose to keep.

And then there’s the box of ribbons. Patiently waiting to be sorted through. Now that I can unload them without anticipating packing them back up again in a year or two, I don’t want to just hang them all helter skelter on the wall (I’m trying so hard to adult), and since I board my horse and don’t have a tack room to put them in, that option is out, too.

So with the worn cardboard box hastily labeled “Lezly’s Ribbons” in huge letters on all sides (and yea, I spelled my name Lezly for a while… it was a phase) waiting for assignment, I checked out Pinterest, asked some friends, and discovered there are some awesome crafty ideas out there!

What about you, EN? What did you do with your ribbons? Show and tell us your most creative ideas in the comments and we’ll feature them in a future post.

Great All Rounder – Family type horse!

Sonny is a 4 year old, 17′ half Thoroughbred/ half perch/clyde. He is the easiest horse to ride and have around. He is very consistent under saddle. He doesn’t spook. He’s very straightforward on the flat and a very brave jumper. He’s a good mover and very nice jumper. He is nicely forward without being strong. Sonny doesn’t look at anything and wants to jump whatever you point him at. He was first after dressage at his first recognized show!

He has schooled pre-training xc and will upgrade next time out. He does not act 4…I can put students on him to jump around! This guy would make an amazing all round family horse. You could put anyone on him! He would also make a great Fox Hunter. He’s quite happy anywhere in the order on a hack. No vices. Easy keeper. Happy to live out 24/7, but also fine if he’s in at night. He has done a lot of off property schooling. He even spent some time at Woodbine Racetrack to get used to all sorts of sights and sounds! Located in Ontario.

Harvey. Photo via Sport Horse Nation.

Training Level Eventer Ready to Show You the Ropes!

Harvey is a 16.1 hand, 2001 chestnut Thoroughbred gelding who has actively competed through the Training and P/T levels of eventing. Level-headed and athletic, he would be perfect for an amateur or young rider to learn the ropes of eventing and move up through Training or Prelim. Harvey would also do great in the jumper ring or dressage ring.

Harvey has had 5 summers of training with Olympic event-rider, Becky Holder, as well as several years of dressage training through 3rd level with a classical German dressage trainer. While off the track, he only raced three times and came off the track with no injuries. He has plenty of competition miles left, and is very sound and low maintenance.

He’s as cuddly as it gets and I just don’t have the time this loveable boy deserves. No vices, trailers and stables great, easy to keep a good weight, and gets along with all other horses. Located in Minnesota.

PERFECT PONY! EVENTING, DRESSAGE, HUNTERS

Pepperwood Swarovski, also known as “Starski” is a fantastic 8 year old, 13.1 hand, Welsh / Dutch Warmblood cross sport pony. She is sired by Staccato and her mother is Farnley Lethe. Her grandsire is Idocus. We bought Starski 2 years ago for our now, 11-year-old daughter. She has carried our daughter through Green as Grass and Maiden level eventing. Starski almost always wins on her dressage score, which is usually in the low 20s.

In 2016 Starski placed 5th in the nation at the American Eventing Championships at the beginner novice level. She has competed through novice level at Five Points HT and finished 3rd out of 18 on her dressage score. She has been proven through 2nd level dressage and was the National Dressage Pony Cup Champion at the Area I regional championships. Starski has also had experience in the Hunter ring and was a favorite among judges, placing top 3 in the medium green hunter pony division at the Raleigh Winter Classic “A” show in 2016. Her USEA ID is 170870.

Starski is quiet enough for a junior/young rider to move up through the levels of eventing, dressage, or hunters. She is not a push ride nor is she too quick, which gives her a perfect balance. Starski has excellent ground manners and a calm disposition at home and at shows. Don’t miss out on this exceptionally bred, super-talented pony that will consistently bring home the blue ribbons! Located in North Carolina.

Chapman. Photo via Sport Horse Nation.

Beautiful 17.2 2nd/3rd Level Dutch Warmblood/Belgian Draft Cross

14 yr Chapman (Panache)is a solid second level horse schooling all third level movements. He is a forward thinking horse who shines in the arena. He has beautiful rhythmic gaits and is very adjustable. He is light off the aids, in the contact, and frames up nicely and is easy to connect. He is solid second level scoring consistently in the mid to high 60s at USDF shows.

He has done some low level eventing and enjoys popping around a small course. He hacks out well with others but does need confidence from his rider when hacking alone. He is an excellent seat lesson lunge horse with steady rhythmic gates and he does not care if his rider is flopping around finding there balance.

He enjoys his job and it shows under saddle. His current owner will share all x-rays (full exam done in April). This is an amazing horse who will make a confident amateur very happy. He’s currently in a full training program-ridden 5 days per week with a dressage trainer. Located in Vermont.

Horatio has great feet, a solid build that holds leg, and perfect ground manners. He is very experienced, has been to the majority of Area II events and is a treat to take to shows, typically scores in the mid 20’s – low 30’s in dressage.

Horatio has traveled to Aiken, SC for 4 winters and always handled the change and travel well. Mickybo Wins At Dublin

Senan Reape & Mickybo brought the curtain down on day three of the Show as they won the 128cm National Championship

Posted by Dublin Horse Show on Friday, August 10, 2018

There’s not much more enthralling than watching a fearless young rider and his spunky pony attack a jump-off, flying over fences taller than they are and with more determination than many adults. Young Senan Reape, 9, and the 18-year-old pony Mickybo were stars at the Dublin Horse Show, winning the 128cm National Championship in serious style.

This video of their speedy trip has since been making the rounds on social media and surpassed one million views. That’s no surprise as this confident pair put in quite a performance, galloping right down the distances without fear, whipping around the turns to save time and feeding off the energy of the crowd, which whooped with each jump and cheered them all the way across the finish line. Well done, Senan and Mickybo!

The horse that matters to you matters to Kentucky Performance Products; that is why you can count on them to provide supplements that meet the challenges facing your horse.

Struggling to keep weight on your hard keepers? When your horse needs more energy and nutrients
than hay and grain can provide, turn to the high-fat supplement, EndurExtra®.

EndurExtra’s 50% fat formula provides the calories, vitamins and prebiotics your horse needs to gain and maintain optimal body condition. Just 8 ounces per day supports weight gain and a robust appetite. The additional vitamin E in EndurExtra sustains the healthy muscles, nerves and immune system your horse needs to reach his full potential.

The blend of fats in EndurExtra are an extraordinary source of dietary energy. Fat contains more than two times the energy that carbohydrates and proteins do, thereby fueling horses more efficiently. Fat is considered a “cool” feedstuff because it does not cause the hormone spikes that lead to excitability.

Adding EndurExtra to your horse’s diet allows you to decrease the amount of sugary concentrates
(grains) you feed, reducing the risk of colic and laminitis resulting from grain overload. EndurExtra is an excellent source of calories for performance horses that are sensitive to sugar but still need calories to fuel training and competition. Try EndurExtra today.

A post shared by US Equestrian (@usequestrian) on

Every summer my husband and I take a trip during which we unplug from the rest of the world. Encouraged by bad cell phone service, the phone stays in the camper and social media is ignored. We focus on enjoying nature, friends and time spent together. It’s something we should probably all do more often. It’s a good way to let your eyes and brain rest and reset. Of course now there is much catching up to do on Pony Finals, the Mongol Derby and everything else between!
