The eventing community has rallied behind Millie, the 6-month-old daughter of Pete and Philippa Humphreys, following the rotational fall on May 14 at the Jersey Fresh International Three-Day Event that claimed her mother’s life.
A college fund created on YouCaring.com has since raised more than $60,000 for Millie. Jersey Fresh CCI3* winner Ryan Wood has donated the County Solution Monoflap Saddle he won to be auctioned, with all proceeds going to Millie’s fund.
“Powell’s owner Ilona English and myself decided we wanted to contribute to support Pete and Millie, and this way we can also raise some money for Millie’s college fund,” Ryan said.
The winner of the auction may choose a different saddle model, and County Saddlery will also donate the saddle’s retail value of $4,995 to the fund.
“Our hearts go out to the Humphreys family, and we are very glad to have the opportunity to contribute to Millie’s future in this way,” Gene Freeze, president of County Saddlery, said.

Philippa’s husband Pete expressed his gratitude to the eventing community for the outpouring of support.
“Our darling little Millie keeps me strong. The overwhelming response to her college fund is unprecedented and I am in a state of shock to the amazing generosity. I wish I could thank each one of you in person,” he said.
“Please know that I am reading all the names and wonderful comments of love and support, and this helps me cope tremendously. She will have the pick of the best schools in the country thanks to your kindness and caring.”
