Burghley Cross Country Open Thread: Andrew Nicholson Takes the Lead, Hannah Sue Burnett in 7th

It’s go time at Burghley! We’ll be updating this post throughout the morning as the riders tackle the monstrosity that is the Burghley cross country today. Keep refreshing this page for updates! Our friends over at Horse & Hound are also live blogging the cross country; you can open the live blog by clicking here for even more updates on the action.
We will have screen caps from the Burghley.tv videos, however it appears that the on demand videos have not yet started loading. Thanks for your patience as we try to bring you the most up to date action as we can!

[UPDATE]: Allison Springer and Arthur had an unfortunate runout at fence 19B, the Rolex Combination. This fence has caught out a few pairs today; Allison got home but will be out of top contention.

Meghan O’Donoghue and Pirate were next on course and had a fall at the C element of the Malting’s Bounce & Corner. Both reported to appear ok.

Marilyn Little and RF Demeter broke the frangible pin at Malting’s Corner and came home clear otherwise. They were later assessed 21 penalties for breaking the pin, putting them into 9th currently. We’ve just learned that David O’Connor is appealing the penalties and that he is confident they will be removed.

Hannah Sue Burnett and Harbour Pilot made quick work of the course, coming home with the third-fastest round of the day to take over fourth place with just a few rides left.

U.S. ride times:

Allison Springer & Arthur: 12:42 p.m. BST (7:42 a.m. EST)
Meghan O’Donoghue & Pirate: 1:26 p.m. BST (8:26 a.m. EST)
Marilyn Little & RF Demeter: 1:34 p.m. BST (8:34 a.m. EST)
