1. Waylon Roberts has made four appearances at Bromont since 2010 and won at the venue twice, taking the CIC2* win with Bill Owen in 2015 and the CCI* win with Yarrow in 2013. He has a 100 percent clear cross country rate at the venue and has made the time in 75 percent of his runs. He’s competing in the CCI3* with his Rio hopeful Kelecyn Cognac, who EN has predicted to finish fourth.

2. Three horses come in to the CCI3* with a win in the past 12 months: Catalina (Richland CIC2*), Sacramento (Jersey Fresh CIC3*) and Pfun (Fair Hill CIC3*). We’ve predicted Jennie Brannigan and Catalina to take the win and Will Faudree and Pfun to challenge them for a top spot on the leaderboard. Sacramento is making his CCI3* debut with Kylie Lyman and enters the competition as EN’s Dark Horse.

3. If experienced is required for a top finish at Bromont, then look no further than The Apprentice. He has seven CCI3* completions under his belt with Buck Davidson, and all of those secured top 10 finishes. “Dirk” has a 75 percent clear cross country average over the past year but has only jumped one clear FEI show jumping round in that time. Their current CCI3* show jumping average is two rails.

4. Aussie stalwart Ryan Wood has completed an impressive 92 percent of his 24 international runs over the past 12 months. Six of those have been at the CCI3* level, and he’s completed all of them with a clear cross country and an average of just 1.7 time penalties. His CCI3* mount Woodstock Bennett, who we’ve predicted to finish second in his first CCI3*, finished seventh in the CCI2* at Bromont last year.

5. Talking Point BCF is another horse making his CCI3* debut at Bromont and he has a strong pilot in Matt Brown, who averages 100 percent clear cross country runs over five completions at the level. The horse’s strongest phase is easily the show jumping, where he hasn’t pulled a rail in any of his international runs. “TJ” made a strong showing in his first CIC3* at Jersey Fresh to finish third.
