Friday News & Notes from FLAIR Nasal Strips

Your daily dose of humor brought to your courtesy of Meg Kep and Co.

If you don’t hear from me for the rest of the weekend, it’s because I’ve been buried in the supposed “Snowpocalypse” that is headed to the Midwest today. St. Louis is notorious for its sudden weather changes, and this week has been a prime example. I drove home from work on Wednesday evening with my windows rolled down and no jacket on, and then had to scrape ice off of my car this morning. It’s extremely entertaining to anticipate all four seasons in one day when picking out your outfit for the day, trust me.

In other news, EN is on site at the USEA Annual Meeting and Convention, and we will be bringing you the latest updates from all of the meetings and forums from the weekend. The annual meeting is a wonderful opportunity for riders, coaches, spectators, judges, stewards, and everything in between to convene and recap the past year. Team USA coach David O’Connor has already hosted some meetings for the High Performance riders, and I’m sure everyone will leave with more determination than ever to make 2014 the best year yet. Keep it locked here for more updates from Cincinnati.

Friday News:

Top show jumper Ben Maher is being sued for £700,000 by two of his former owners. Mike and Emma Phillips, who have been long time supporters of Maher, have brought a case against the Olympic gold medalist alleging that he secretly profited off of several horse sales. The Phillips say that Maher would tell them that a horse was sold for a lower price than what it was actually sold for, pocketing the difference. [BBC Sport Reports Lawsuit Against Ben Maher]

Want more action from the USEA Annual Meeting and Convention? There is loads of information on the USEA’s website, including notes from meetings and highlights from various events throughout the weekend. I will be tabbing back and forth between EN and the USEA all weekend so I don’t miss a single thing. [USEA Annual Meeting Coverage]

Event horses love their vacations just as much as their riders do. Horse & Hound has photographic evidence of this. Several top event horses were captured enjoying their time off from training. It’s refreshing to see these hard working horses getting the break that they deserve. [Horses on Holiday]

Further proof has been found that chinchillas are still one of the coolest animals around. Our chinchillas may be working hard keeping Eventing Nation up and running, but several of their relatives have been found on the internet recently. Check out this chinchilla from Singapore, who BuzzFeed is calling the “Most Important Chinchilla on Instagram.” [BuBu the Chinchilla]

The George Morris Horsemanship Training Session is something many of us look forward to each year. What better way to spend a cold winter evening than pulling up a chair and watching George Morris work his magic from a safe distance? The participants for this year’s Training Session have been announced. This year’s session is highly anticipated as George missed the majority of the Training Session last year due to illness.
