Good morning from New Jersey! It’s a whirlwind of a weekend across Eventing Nation as well as across the pond. Badminton is in full swing, and the second half of the dressage riders will look to challenge overnight leaders Paul Tapner and Kilronan today. Francis Whittington and Easy Target and Lucinda Fredericks and Flying Finish bring up the rest of the top three, but I’m sure there will be plenty of challenges today as dressage wraps up. Jenni will be bringing you updates from England, and meanwhile I am here at Jersey Fresh ready to tackle the CIC division dressage today. Boyd Martin will kick things off with Otis Barbotiere, who he said yesterday he will just be doing the dressage and show jumping with as he is still getting back into jumping after breaking his leg at Carolina International.

Are you planning to attend cross country day at Jersey tomorrow? If so, brush up on your eventing trivia, as you might be picked for a rapid-fire round of EN-style trivia to win a pretty cool prize! Keep an eye on our social media pages for more details.

Friday News:

If you watched this year’s Grand National, you remember the crazy false start that happened. The British Racing Authority will be launching an inquiry into the actions taken by the jockeys, who lined up at the start before being instructed to. The stewards’ inquiry was not resolved on race day, so the matter was turned over to higher authorities. [Grand National Race Start Investigated]

China’s equestrian scene is rapidly growing. To that end, the China Equestrian Association is making strides to improve the racing and equestrian industry and make it more popular in the country. Challenges include a lack of qualified veterinarians and well-equipped facilities, but these things are on the table to undergo improvement. [China Equestrian Scene Improving]

Taking the trip to Badminton this year? Horse & Hound has some great tips for visitors this year. I’m mostly disappointed to be missing out on all of the shopping, but there’s always next year. My wallet probably needs a break after Rolex anyway. [8 Badminton Visitor Tips]

As if there wasn’t enough excitement to be had right now, Burghley tickets have gone on sale. Held September 4-7 this year, this event is yet another four-star that is a must-see on everyone’s bucket list. The Capt. Mark Phillips designed cross country course is one of the world’s most challenging, and even though this year’s event comes shortly after WEG, plenty of pairs will still be aiming here as their destination fall event.
