If you are headed out to the Plantation Field Horse Trials later this month, you will be in for a wonderful surprise. In a gesture of goodwill and camaraderie, event organizer Denis Glaccum has invited some European eventing stars to compete at the event this year, and 2012 Olympic individual silver medalist Sara Algotsson-Ostholt will be competing in the CIC* division. While we will not get to see her gorgeous Olympic mount Wega, she will be catch riding George and Gretchen Wintersteen’s Ballyneety.

From the Chronicle of the Horse: “Everyone’s trying to make this one of the best CICs in America,” (Boyd) Martin added. “There have been huge improvements to the course; the jumping and dressage rings are now world class. Bringing in some medalists to catch-ride in the CIC* will only create more interest in an event we all hope is going to be world-renowned.”

This is wonderful news and a great opportunity to see a talented Olympian in action over here on our side of the pond. Many thanks to the Plantation Field organizers and to Sara for making this possible!
