Jan Byyny Pine Top Fall and Injury Update

Welcome from Google, check out the latest on Jan's recovery.

(1)
EN has confirmed that, as of this afternoon, Jan is currently still in the trauma center of the Medical College of GA Hospital dealing with complications from a head injury sustained in her fall Sunday at Pine Top.  In our Pine Top recap, we mentioned that Jan suffered a broken wrist, ribs, and a concussion, and the head injury is the major concern right now.  That's all I feel comfortable reporting about the situation now, and hopefully the next information released will be from Jan's people saying that everything has started to move in a positive direction.  As anyone in eventing will attest, Jan is a true competitor and a great person, and we look forward to seeing her back in the saddle sometime soon.

(2) Sinead's latest update says that Rebecca is up and walking, and will hopefully be moved from the ICU today.

--As a quick programming note, we will obviously keep a close eye on these health situations, but we plan to resume wider eventing coverage starting soon.

Jan and Rebecca are in my prayers and while I do not know either one of them, a few years back I had lovely encounter with Jan after Rolex. We were both returning our cars to the Avis drop off at CVG. I knew who she was but did not want to bother her. She noticed I had my Rolex Equestrian Club pin still on and struck up a conversation with my mother and I while we waited for the shuttle bus. She asked if we had a good time, where we were from, what got me interested in Eventing, etc. We continued to talk on the bus ride to the terminal and she talked about getting ready for Burghley and having to hop on the next flight so soon after Rolex. She was truly a genuine, sweet and kind person who was passionate about horses and the sport of eventing. I always pop in on her website to see what she is doing now and then and was bummed for her when she had to drop out of Millbrook due to an injury last year. Hope she will be able to she leave hospital fully recovered ASAP so she can be with her family and close friends and that she will have better times ahead. To her friends and family send her my warmest regards for speedy recovery and I will be rooting for her. Kathy McDonnell - Eventing Fan from NYC.

Sending positive thoughts and good wishes to Jan and Surefire. What a scary thing to have happen to such a seasoned pro. I don't know Jan well myself but all of our mutual friends speak so highly of her. Hoping for a speedy recovery!!!
