Boyd Martin Recovering Ahead of Schedule

Good news coming from Camp Martin this week. Boyd posted an update on his blog with encouraging news that his recovery is going well and is, in fact, ahead of schedule.

While there is still no word on whether or not eventing’s Iron Man will be back in the saddle long enough to contest a spring four-star, the news is nothing less than exciting nonetheless. Boyd’s doctor has instructed him to begin riding as soon as he feels comfortable, as there is no risk of re-injuring the leg. Rather, it’s more about how well Boyd feels he can ride and how effective he can be.

From Boyd’s blog:

“I’m pleased to say I’m ahead of schedule in the healing process; I recently went for my checkup, a couple weeks after surgery, and Dr. Phillip Principe is encouraged by the re-growth of bone around the fracture. He instructed me to start riding as soon as I can, as there’s no risk of re-injuring the leg; it’s more a matter of my effectiveness with my leg and my pain tolerance.”

We will continue posting updates from Boyd as they become available. As always, both Boyd and Silva’s full recoveries are in the forefront of our minds, and seeing Boyd in the saddle in time for Rolex or Badminton is simply an added bonus. Best wishes to the Martin family.
