We’re pleased to announce that Katie Malensek's reader submission, From Ponies and Pigtails…, is the Omega Alpha Reader Submission of the Month for April. Katie sent us a wonderful article expressing fond memories and appreciation for her horsey best friend, Ashley.

“Everyone has that one great horsey friend, you know, the one that you grew up riding with- going to pony club rallies or horse shows together? That one that cheered for you when you made it around your first cross country course clean or won your first blue ribbon?  The one that on a Friday night, while other teenagers are out at the mall or hanging out with friends, is braiding horses and packing trailers with you. The one that will sit in a public restaurant wearing breeches, boots, and the “reverse French manicure” with you and not bat an eye.   I’m sure everyone involved with horses can remember the one person in their horsey life that fits this description.”

Katie will receive a free supply of an Omega Alpha supplement of her choice for sharing her story. Want to win an Omega Alpha supplement? Send in your story, clinic report, video or other article to tips@eventingnation.com. If it’s published this month, it will be eligible for May's giveaway. *Month to be determined by date of publishing, not date of submission. Many thanks to Katie for writing and to Omega Alpha for supporting Eventing Nation. Go eventing!

Here’s a look at other reader submissions we loved from last month:

Holly Hill Event Report - Brooke Schafer kindly sent us an event write-up from Holly Hill Horse Trials in Benton, Louisiana.  "This weekend Bob and Tracy Hewlett's Holly Hill Farm in Benton, Louisiana opened up its gates once again for the Spring Horse Trials. There were over 300 entries with more than 275 competitors coming out of the start box. The farm boasted beautiful new facilities for the competitors as well as new footing in the Stadium Jumping arena and added jumps to the cross country course. With a chilly start it turned out to be a beautiful weekend."

-

Katie Murphy: Success at Full Gallop Farm - Katie Murphy and Esccord RGS — the 2012 YEH 4-year-old East Coast Champion and EN's Got Talent superstar— competed in the second training level event of his career at Full Gallop Farm. The pair tied Doug Payne and Lansdownne for first, with the tie being broken in Doug's favor due to optimum time. Katie also sent in the helmet cam from her cross-country ride.

-

Pam Bennett-Skinner’s Report from St. Johns Horse Trials - "Area X has grit: grit in their teeth, ears, and other unmentionable places. It wouldn’t be St Johns, AZ without some wind." Fortunately, St. John's was spared the snow this year.

-

Pine Hill Helmet CamStorey Crenshaw kindly sent us a video from Pine Hill Horse Trials in Belleville, Texas.  Storey rides a 15-year-old TB named "For Pete's Sake" in adult amateur novice, and reports that the new novice course was very fun, challenging and inviting.   Congrats to Storey for finishing second on her dressage score of 33.0 in a very competitive division!

Devoucoux “Caption It” Contest

We received so many crazy good captions for the "Caption It" contest presented by Devoucoux, we definitely had to do a poll to figure out who the winners should be.

Here's how we're going to roll with it, under each photo, help us out and rate your favorite caption for that photo. Four winners will be chosen to win a signed Devoucoux shirt by the top rated caption for each photo so let the games begin!

“Snap That!” Contest Presented by Tipperary

Day two of dressage is upon us which also marks the fourth day of EN's annual Rolex Kentucky Contest Week. I must say our generous EN sponsors have really been pulling out the big guns to award our readers with some really cool prizes, and the next sponsor will not disappoint!

For our next contest, we are going to ask you all to play EN photographer for a day. I mean... who doesn't want to be a chinchilla?

But despite just getting to act like a super cute, fuzzy rodent we challenge you to snap some cross country photos of riders wearing the new Eventer Pro 3015! The following riders have opted to ride around Rolex Kentucky wearing the new vest: Jessica Phoenix, Robert Meyerhoff, Lindsay Oaks, Maddie Blackman, Kendal Lehari,  Lynn Symanski, Daniel Clasing, and Shandis McDonald.

So, tomorrow on cross country day, look out for these 9 riders and have your camera ready. Snap a picture of at least one of these riders while out on cross country and send it to en.contest@gmail.com with "Snap That" as the title.

Tipperary will also be looking to use some photos taken by our readers for future promos and advertising campaigns so the pressure's on to get some great shots! But iPhone quality will still be accepted to enter the contest :) .

Submissions must be sent in to en.contest@gmail.com by 8 a.m. Sunday morning and the winner will be randomly chosen to receive an Eventer Pro vest of their own! Please one submission per person.

The new Eventer Pro 3015 has an improved anatomical fit-mobility with patent pending EVOLUTION FOAMTM that conforms to each individual athletes body shape and size. The foams construction allows for air return circulation, cooling the body in high temperatures with specialized antibacterial agents that prevent the vest from odor build up. A new design pattern of double layer TECTONICTM foam plating moves and flexes with the rider without any separation or gapping. This plating works in conjunction with the LIVE SPINETMconstruction which provides increased impact protection while moving, flexing and mimicking the athletes movements. Vertical flex bars on the front and back of the vest provide a more customized fit along with a FLEX LACETM closure and torso cut that allows the vest to expand and contract with the athletes movements while offering easy quick fit adjustment with draw string and added side flap protection. Additional reflective piping is included in the vest for added safety and visibility for riders training on the road or in low light situations. Over all the look of the Eventer ProTM is esthetically pleasing, it combines functionality with comfort and complements the riders performance.
