A big congratulations to Oxbow, ridden by Gary Stevens and trained by D. Wayne Lukas, who led from wire to wire to win this year’s Preakness Stakes. I think a lot of us were rooting for Derby winner Orb, but it was fun to watch Oxbow completely dominate the field–and it was a great storyline nonetheless: a legendary Hall of Fame trainer, a 50-year-old jockey who came out of retirement to take the ride, and a horse that entered the starting gate at 15-1 odds.
Itsmyluckyday finished second, and Mylute, ridden by female jockey Rosie Napravnik, finished third. Odds-on favorite Orb seemed to lose his rhythm after breaking from the rail and finished a distant fourth. Full results here.
