Good morning EN! The perfectly timed photo above features Dorie Mayfield and her mount Junior, who won a division at the Indiana Eventing  Association’s schooling show Leg-Up last weekend. Dorie’s mother Joan snapped this cute photo of Junior going in for a sip of celebratory beer after his big win- we all know that feeling. Congrats to Dorie and Junior!

Florida attorney Robin Trupp is calling attention to problems with FEI rules and quarantine regulations. FEI rules require all competitors to deposit syringes with competition veterinarians at the beginning of competition for safekeeping. Trupp argues that “almost every horse in a quarantine travels with an emergency kit, which may include a syringe, needle and medication.” His main point: if an FEI horse is stabled in a non-FEI secured quarantine facility on a day when competition is not occurring, no vet is required to be present. Critical treatment could be delayed because caretakers would not have a syringe to administer drugs. This appears to apply to shows at which quarantine barns are located far from the FEI-secured stabling, where a vet is required to be available at all times. [Horsetalk]
