Hartwell Stud Farm and the McCann family announced with great sadness the peaceful passing of the legendary Irish Sport Horse stallion, Cruising, this morning.

From Hartwell Stud Farm:

The McCann family and Hartwell Stud are sad to announce the death of their Show Jumping Stallion Cruising on Sunday the 7th September 2014 at the age of 29.
Cruising will be remembered by his many fans both here and abroad for his show jumping performances and also by the many breeders world wide for the legacy he has left through his sons and daughters.
Cruising was an amazing character and was fit and well up to his final day.
He passed away peacefully in the stable he was born in and is buried at Hartwell Stud.

Cruising (Sea Crest x Mullacrew) will long be remembered for not only his success as a Grand Prix show jumper but for his prowess for producing champion sport horses for multiple disciplines. Cruising was the fifth ranked eventing stallion for 2013, and has been ranked in the top five for the last five years. The gray stallion is the only Irish stallion to earn a five-star rating for his offspring in both the eventing and show jumping worlds.

In the event world, Cruising has produced exceptional horses such as Mr. Medicott (Phillip Dutton), Harbour Pilot (Hannah Sue Burnett), Mr. Cruise Control (Andrew Nicholson), and Electric Cruise (Joseph Murphy).

During his illustrious career, Cruising was piloted by Trevor Coyle, and together they achieved top placings in venues such as Aachen and Lucerne.

Cruising was honored just last month at the Dublin Horse Show, looking every bit of the star that he surely knew he was. This stallion, who has been so influential in the event world, will be greatly missed. The EN team would like to extend our condolences to all of the people who knew and loved Cruising, the big grey horse that could.
