One of the best things about being an eventer is that if there isn’t an event on a given weekend and you have money burning a hole in your pocket, you can always hit up a hunter/jumper show to get some more stadium mileage or hit up a dressage show to get some time in the sandbox. Laine Ashker has been channelling her inner Dressage Queen lately with tons of stuff posted to social media that makes dressage actually look like fun! This weekend she picked up the last score she needed to net herself a USDF Silver Medal! Go Lainey!

The Arabian Horse Foundation has committed $11,500 in funds towards researching health conditions that impact Arabian horses. One of the studies that focuses on equine metabolic syndrome and Cushing’s disease should will hopefully provide some insight to the syndrome that benefits horses of all breeds. Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall were spotted having a grand time this weekend at the Salperton Park Horse Trials in Gloucestershire. Zara was able to compete while Mike looked after their child. Zara will represent Team GBR at the World Equestrian Games aboard High Kingdom. [More from dailymail.co.uk]

It’s time to start thinking about protecting your horse and yourself from West Nile Virus. 2013 saw an increase in West Nile virus cases due to weather patterns that supported a larger mosquito population. A 41-year old cold case has an equestrian connection. Jane Andre Cotta disappeared 41 years ago and authorities are looking for answers. She was pregnant at the time of her disappearance in 1973 and had recently written a letter where she said she was giving three of her favorite horses to a friend. The WEG test events are getting started! Many top riders who will compete during August in the Dressage and Show Jumping portions of the WEGs will get a chance to compete in the D’Ornano Stadium in Caen.
