Monday Video from Total Saddle Fit: Walk the Badminton Show Jumping Course with World Number One, Ros Canter

“This showjumping course looks like it’s going to lead to a really exciting finish to the Badminton Horse Trials this year,” says Ros Canter, Eventing World Champion.

‘Really exciting’ would be putting it lightly in retrospect, Ros, but even the current FEI World Number 1 ranked event rider wouldn’t have been able to predict exactly just how exciting.

Heck, even the eventual winner of this year’s Badminton Horse Trials, Piggy French, didn’t see it coming: “I woke up first thing this morning and thought maybe I could do it, but then I walked the course and I thought there was no chance – it’s tight, there are so many related distances and lines, and it definitely wouldn’t be her sort of track,” she said.

So what was it about this Kelvin Bywater-designed course that made it so tricky? Watch the video above to hear Ros’ take and then be sure to replay Piggy’s winning clear round aboard Vanir Kamir below.
