Of course I knew that John Kyle, commentator supreme at the PRO Derby Cross, and Red Hills Horse Trials this year, as well as of course the Deputy Governor of HM Palace and Fortress, The Tower of London, has impeccable taste because he’s a friend of EventingNation and admits to reading EN every day. However, I had no idea quite how high his standards were until he sent me information and pictures of these stunning top hats from a show he was commentating at in the Netherlands for FEI TV.
They are made by bespoke headwear specialists L’Hiver in the Netherlands, and the Top Hat pictured above is their brand new model – absolutely in line with all the safety standards and launched at the show after 5 years of research and development, which is why we don’t have any pictures of riders wearing them – they’re that brand, spanking new!
You do have to wear the safety strap, and you do have to be willing to invest considerable time and I have no doubt, expense, to become an owner – but at what price style and safety?!
