The qualifications for the Adequan USEA Gold Cup Championship have been adjusted for 2014. This year, a rider no longer needs to compete in the Championship on a specific horse; rather, any Advanced-level horse can be entered in the Championship provided the rider has completed a Gold Cup series division with no more than 20 cross country jump penalties. “This adjustment will allow our top eventers a chance to showcase some of their younger up-and-coming mounts that are ready to compete at the Advanced level, or their older mounts that are in the twilight years of their upper level careers. It will also offer our top riders another opportunity to compete for the $40,000 in prize money offered at the Championships,” Jo Whitehouse, USEA CEO said in a press release.
