Tack of the Day Launches ‘Last Chance Corral’ Bargain Site

John Nunn has been involved with equine retail for several decades, most prominently being associated with the Nunn Finer brand of tack and equipment as well as retail powerhouse Bit of Britain. Bit of Britain has launched several “daily deal” initiatives, including Tack of the Day and Tack of the Day Too. Now, John is taking things a step further and will be launching a new sales venture that will allow shoppers to find items at bargain bin pricing.

Originally in 2005, the need arose to move items that were taking up space in the warehouse, so the idea of Tack of the Day was born. As the website grew in popularity, the amount of deals found on Tack of the Day grew to two a day at clearance pricing.

Eventually, products that needed to move but that were available in limited quantities gave way to a spinoff called Tack of the Day Too, which offers items at even lower pricing but with limited supply. Now, with the demand for daily deals and clearance prices continuing to grow, John and the Bit of Britain team have decided to launch a new spinoff. With the title “Last Chance Corral,” John envisions this new sale website to offer products at rock bottom pricing in order to move them quickly.

“This is going to be a ‘drop dead, have to get it out the door, we’ll almost pay you to take it type deal,” John said. “It will be very limited supply, but it will be items that we’ve posted or run before that didn’t sell that need to go. It is still quality inventory, but we just need it to go.”

The Last Chance Corral will offer items that have been pulled from regular inventory, have been picked up from another tack store that is closing its doors, or that have been pulled from the mobile store.  “We pulled the mobile store off the road for the spring, and we will be using items from that inventory in the Last Chance Corral. The mobile store has inventory in it from last season that may be a bit shop-worn but that is still brand new.”

Items that will not go straight into regular inventory could make an appearance on Last Chance Corral, to the delight of bargain shoppers nationwide.

Full disclosure for items that may have a bit of wear will be given in the item description, and the price will be determined based on how quickly the Bit of Britain team wants it to move. “If it’s a bridle on the trailer with no damage or wear, it may be 70% off, whereas one that has been sun bleached, which can be fixed by leather conditioner would be 90% off,” John said.

Last Chance Corral launched this week, and John and his team are excited to bring even more great deals to the equine public. Also launching in 2014 will be tack and equipment geared towards Western riders.

After doing extensive market research, it was revealed that a “deal of the day” website was not easily found for Western equipment. “It will be exactly the same thing (as Tack of the Day) that we’re doing now, except with a Western theme,” John elaborated. “We have teased our audience with a few Western items, and the sales did well so we knew that we could start to develop it then.”

The Bit of Britain team continues to work hard to ensure that customers are satisfied and bargain shoppers have an outlet for their needs. You can check out the Last Chance Corral tab on the Tack of the Day website. We look forward to the success of Last Chance Corral and as always thank John and the Bit of Britain team for all of their support of all things equine.
