Cross country morning

Most of the riders this morning were walking the course solo, in intense concentration, striding out determinedly, but Hamish Cargill was kind enough to stop for a few words.
Best of luck to Hamish and Tiger later. The sun is shining and there’s a gentle breeze, and the ground crew are working extremely hard in an effort to maximise their effects.  There’s gravel at every fence, and in some of the squishy bits in between. I walked some of the course with Red HIlls course designer Hugh Lochore, who having designed courses in Scotland and Ireland knows all about wet going, and shared his thoughts on Derek’s inaugural four star course with me.
Wishing everyone safe and happy rounds today, especially the Brits! Go Eventing at the Rolex 4*!

PS. Just because there’s a tough day of cross country ahead, doesn’t stop the Canuck’s from throwing a party, and nothing will stop Doug Payne from branding! Check out his sleeve! Jessie Phoenix affectionately teased him that he should be in Nascar!
