People in the south, this message is not for you. People in the north….look at this photo!! I took this photo this week outside my house! Spring is coming, I swear it!! How is it possible to get this ridiculously excited about crocuses? I see these suckers and I’m still wearing all my jackets and I somehow feel better just because I know that spring is happening, whether I can tell it’s true or not. Flowers for the win.

News From Around The Globe:

The EN team was sad to learn that Don Randle, a mainstay in the Area IX eventing community, has passed away. A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6 at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 1908 Central Ave, Cheyenne, WY 82001. Our thoughts are with his wife, Deeda, and family during this difficult time.

Showjumping is more influential than ever in our sport, so lets take tips from the top. International rider Harry Meade gave an interview and a video with Horse & Hound this week on how he trains his horses and students to have more success in the show jumping arena. “The whole of showjumping can be refined down to three fundamental areas, which are the right approach canter, the quality of the canter and the right line — and then not interfering, which encompasses what the rider does in the last few strides and through the air,” says Harry Meade. Zara Phillips’ Olympic mount High Kingdom is on track towards Badminton after missing most all of 2015 due to injury. Injured right before the start of dressage at Rolex last year, he kicked out while being tacked up and ended up having to go to an equine hospital to have his joint flushed. Now back on form, the 15 year old gelding will have to re-establish his qualifications at either the 4* or 3* level in order to be considered for Rio, as he hasn’t competed at the top levels since 2014. KER ClockIt Session of the Week

Top rider Liz Halliday-Sharp was among the first to test the KER ClockIt Sport mobile application, and has relied on the technology ever since. “KER ClockIt Sport is really important to my conditioning program,” she said. “I rely on the app to gain insight into my horses’ fitness, how they respond to different types of work and terrain, their recovery, and whether they’re ready for more of a challenge. The session graphs make it easy to understand exactly what I’m feeling while riding and live feedback helps me adjust my plan as needed during the school. KER ClockIt Sport is a crucial tool for any eventer looking to improve their horses’ fitness.”

Here’s one of Liz’s recent rides on Advanced horse HHS Cooley. She hacked over to a track for speed work, then hacked back. You can see how she highlighted a portion of the session to create a summary of the data from just that segment.

KER is continually upgrading KER ClockIt Sport and adding new features based on user feedback. See the latest updates, view more shared sessions, and give it a try!
