Tuesday News & Notes from Legends Horse Feeds

Waylon Roberts and Lancaster. Photo by Shelby Allen.

This photo of Waylon Roberts is one of my favorites from the weekend at Fair Hill. Our sport is a game of inches, and every inch counts. Sometimes it’s the little things that show your work paying off, like nailing the final flying change of the three-star test.

Tuesday News:

We’re sad to share that Michael Jung broke his arm this weekend at Le Lion. He and the 7-year-old Choclat fell after an open ditch on cross country. Fortunately, he will not need surgery, but recovery will take time and patience. We’re wishing him a speedy recovery! [Olympic eventing champion injured in cross-country fall]

Thoroughbred mares had it going on this weekend at the YEH West Coast Championship. Lauren Burnell’s Melkenna (Sea of Secrets x Cheesewright) was 4-year-old champion, and Madison Temkin’s MVP Madbum (Papa Clem x Dancing Stripes) was the 5-year-old winner. Elizabeth Callahan had big dreams when the foal Quantum Leap was born seven years ago, and she got to see those come to fruition this weekend at Le Lion d’Angers. She’s been blogging about her experience at the championship this weekend, with plenty of behind the scenes insights. [The Race to Le Lion: The Last Day]
