Good morning EN! This week out in California Copper Meadows will host its first Advanced event of the year, featuring a brand new water complex. In addition to regular prizes, there will also be several other contests going on at the event- including one that may be my new favorite promotional event: a make your own glittery quarter marks booth. Four Star Eventing Gear and Jacks Manufacturing are supplying everything you need to make your artistic creation- all you have to do is show up. The horse and rider pair who sports the best quarter marks will win $100, not to mention look snazzy while galloping around the course. Consider this a challenge, EN readers, and send us lots of photos! [Copper Meadows Facebook]

Several top eventers will once again try their hands at reining as part of the Kentucky Reining Cup over the Rolex weekend. The reining competition is held at the Kentucky Horse Park at the same time as Rolex, and the event riders will take to the ring on Saturday evening. Defending champ David O’Connor will be back, and he will be joined by Bruce Davidson, Will Faudree, and Lynn Symansky. Better get your tickets for Saturday night before they sell out! It will definitely be a stiff competition. [KY Forward]

This week on SmartPak’s Ask The Vet: Should you feed a fat supplement with grain? Dr. Lydia Gray answers a reader’s question about fat supplements and when they are appropriate. Bottom line: while there are several types of horses that would benefit from fat supplements, like those who are “hard keepers” and horses who have tied up before, others will be fine without them. Remember those great Rolex commercials that featured different horse sports? Horse Nation found two newly released horse-related commercials made by Longines, an FEI Top Partner and the new title sponsor of many equestrian competitions. One of the commercials centers on racing, and the other on show jumping. Check out the racing video below, and click to watch the show jumping one here.
