Weekly OTTB Wishlist from Cosequin

It’s getting increasingly harder to limit each week’s wishlist to just three OTTBs! There are so many quality horses out there waiting to be picked up with a clean slate and ready to go in whatever direction you’d like. I’ve always been a firm believer in “making” your “made” horse, even though I know this is not everyone’s cup of tea. But the OTTB is a worthwhile breed to look into, and you just may be pleasantly surprised at how successful you can be.

Our first listing this week is Dance With Monarch, a 2009 gelding with some well-known names visible in his pedigree. Dance With Monarch (MonarchosMy Angel Dancer, by Fusaichi Pegasus) has not one but two Derby winners in his immediate pedigree in Monarchos and Fusaichi Pegasus.

Dance With Monarch was not destined for the Derby trail, however, racing 24 times in the Allowance and Claiming ranks, winning six times and earning a shade over $120,000. He’s been retired with no known issues and his owners are looking for an excellent new home for him.

You won’t want to miss this “fun-sized”, 15.2 mare, Never So Sweet. This adorable girl is listed with CANTER Mid-Atlantic and evidently is aptly named as she is a sweet horse to boot! Never So Sweet (GunnersideBite My Bumpers, by Feel the Power) was foaled in 2010 and raced seven times, earning $700 — that ought to caught some superstitious reader’s eye!

Lucky Flo is said to be sweet and athletic at her 15.2 height — perfect for an ambitious junior or small adult!
