Weekly OTTB Wishlist from Cosequin

This list has a little bit of everything for your oogling and drooling delights (at least, that’s what I do when I horse shop online for no reason …). We have the very young and promising to the older warhorse type that’s as sound as a brick and a great character. Get ready!

I had to start with this guy, purely because of his name! Pepper No Salt is a 2 year old with only three career starts and already let down at the trainer’s farm. Sired by Bellamy Road and out of Dimple Pinch (!), he’s currently 15.2 hands, but sure to do some more growing over the next few years. He’s a lovely grey roan color and super stocky and cute! He’s gonna be a stunner when he grows up, and he’s already got good ground manners and an in-your-pocket personality. There are videos of him available as well!

Next up is a good dude that I have a real soft spot for, “Deano” is a 2005 model who was very successful as a racehorse before retiring and becoming a reliable track pony. He’s already got a foundation for local shows, he trail rides, and he’s suitable for all ages of riders. His trainer says that he is happiest at a very slow hunter pace, and feels that he’s a great all around prospect. He jogged clean for his listing, and has cute movement, and an even cuter personality! He does crib lightly after eating, but let’s also remember that Boyd Martin’s four-star horses crib, so that might be a bonus.

And last but not least, we have this lovely doe eyed girl. Hamlin Gal aka “Lovebug,” a 15.3-hand, 2011 mare by Political Force out of Code Silver, is a classic old-fashioned Thoroughbred. She is well-balanced, full-bodied, and good boned. Moving with loft, elegance and lyricism, she’s up for anything with a willing attitude, and she likes having a job. Bug is an in-your-pocket girl with a no-nonsense, can-do approach to learning. With training, this mare has a lot to offer.
