Here’s a quick look at the CCI3* cross-country course.  In an interesting course design element, the CIC3* route follows the shorter 2* course more closely than the CCI3* course.  The CCI3* first and foremost tests accuracy, with narrows in or out of almost every combination.  There are a couple pretty short narrows including 4A and 11C, although 4A might not technically be considered a narrow–it’s about training level height.  There are considerably fewer galloping lane ropes out there than previous years, which I like from a safety standpoint–I fell off several years ago here and my horse ran through about 3 lanes of ropes.  I still think I’m banned by state law from riding cross-country in New Jersey.  My last comment on the course is that there are 3 loops that cross other tracks of the course so it will be interesting to see how the timing works out at those crossing points.  Apologies for the bad lighting on some of the photos.
