The CCI* awards ceremony
Will Coleman won the CCI3* last year here at Bromont and this year he goes home with another victory, this one in the CCI* with Zipp. Doug Payne sadly withdrew the second placed Camerlingo before the jog, and with rails from the riders behind him, Will had enough of a margin to take a rail and still win by 7 points. Momo Laframboise had the best show jumping round of the 1* division to move up from 5th to 2nd. Fiona Allen and Isengart stayed in 3rd place all weekend and finished there with two rails today.
Bromont CCI* Results:
1. Will Coleman and Zipp +4 47.8
2. Momo Laframboise and Dejavu +0 54.8
3. Fiona Allen and Isengart +8 55.9
4. Shandiss Wewoira and Rockfield Grant Juan +8 55.9
5. Ryann Quigley and Ardfield Rover +4 59.9
I saw Will in the barns this morning after he put his tie on and he said he needed a tie clip–that must have jinxed it. Notwithstanding the tie flapping in the breeze it was a really well ridden round:
–There were only 4 double-clears in the show jumping: Dejavu, Rockfield Grant Juan, Snap Decision, and Karma. I expect the show jumping to be a big factor in the 2* and 3* as well.
–The riders who had a chance to ride in the CCI* will benefit from a leg up in experience on this twisty course for their rides in the later division, although the course has been rearranged. How much of a benefit is open for debate but I think it helps a lot.
The CCI2* course walk is underway now as a great afternoon of show jumping rolls on here in Quebec. Go eventing.
