Summer: Friends, Dogs, and Horses from World Equestrian Brands

Well I hate to say it, but as we’re into the second half of September, Summer is becoming a memory and Fall is very much becoming the present. But before we start thinking of Christmas and Florida, let’s take a minute to look back on everything the summer held. Thanks to Bette for submitting the photo, and thank you for reading. If you’d like to submit your ears photo, please send it along with a caption describing it to: [email protected].

From Bette:

This photo was taken from my horse Johnny on a lovely breezy NC summer day at the barn where I keep my horses.  Johnny competed through the Training level and I got my C-3 on him before he was forced to retire from riding in 2004 due to a lameness issue. With the help of my vet and tons of time and energy put into rehabbing him he was able to go back into light work and could walk, trot, canter, and go on easy trail rides. He even competed in a few Intro level Dressage tests- and got a 66% on of them! (Ok so I know it’s Intro, but b/c of his lameness problem this was amazing!) In 2007 he was retired from riding completely and became the world’s “Most Handsome Pasture Pal” -he really is an attractive horse, but since you can’t see his markings you’ll just have to believe me! 🙂

This past weekend, my friend Renée came to visit from RI and I promised her a day of ponies so off to the barn we went! She rode my “Eventer in Training” -Gus, and I hopped on Johnny for the first time in 4 1/2 years! He was a super star even though all we did was walk around the arena. Then we took a million silly pictures while my dog Jello ran around the farm keeping all the squirrels where they belong- in the trees 😉 In this photo you can see part of Gus (the bay) and Renée peering through Johnny’s ears as Jello surveys the surrounding area making sure no creatures are out of place! What could be a better way to spend a lovely -cooler than the day before- summer morning, then with friends, dogs, and horses?
