The USEA has posted the application form for the 2013 Rebecca Broussard Travel Grants. These grant, intended to help defray travel expenses, will be divided between riders who will compete at the Rebecca Farm CIC3* and riders who are looking to travel to Europe to contest either a CCIO3* or CCIO4*. The announcement comes on the heels of the USEF’s announcement of this year’s Samur travel grant recipients. The deadline for application is June 1. All advanced riders who have not represented the US at a CCIO3* or 4* are eligible. [USEA]

Speaking of travel, the FEI is concerned that the recent growth of equestrian competitions will not be sustainable if various governments do not adopt regulatory standards that allow for easier movement of sport horses. The FEi is working with the World Animal Health Organization to establish a global protocol for the movement of top horses, categorizing them separately from other horses and other animals and allowing for easier importation. Our friends at SmartPak posted a blog update detailing how their team riders are prepping for Rolex. Jennie, Phillip, Jan, and Boyd’s head groom Lindsey were all kind enough to write an update on their horses and plans, and from the sound of things they are all well prepared. The post also features some of Samantha’s competition photos from Red Hills and Pine Top. [SmartPak Blog]

Best of blogs: Will Faudree wraps up a great weekend at  The Fork

Today I leave you with a video I found on HN of the Cavalia’s Odysseo performing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. I think doing a dressage test by myself is hard enough, which makes it difficult to imagine how long they had to train these horses in order to fit a routine featuring five into a twenty meter circle. Thanks for reading and enjoy your Wednesday!
