Jessie Phoenix is a phenomenon; determined, gutsy, sweet, funny and ALWAYS smiling, how can you help but love her? She is also talented, and one of the hardest working riders on the circuit, as well as a fairly new mother and very busy coach. I caught up with her last night helping Christian before she had a lesson on Exploring with Canadian Coach David O Connor.
I also have to add that she is the most positive teacher I’ve watched, not sparing superlatives but also watching with a keen eye. Christian asked if she thought one of his movements looked okay at one point, to which she replied, “oh, it’s completely fantastic” with a straight face and meant it, and continued to give him advice on how to improve it more. That’s the kind of trainer I want too! Christian is a young, Canadian rider who is lying tied for seventh after dressage, let’s meet him.
Props to the trainer on both counts, because Jessie is currently leading the Advanced after dressage, and is it me, or does Jessie have a type, because I think Exploring and Rolex are definitely very similar?
