A big weekend at Stable View awaits with their popular Oktoberfest CCI and H.T. on tap starting tomorrow (Friday). It’s the final East coast Qualifier for the US Equestrian Open of Eventing Final at Morven Park next month, and while the Series win has already been zipped up by Tamie Smith, there are still some points to be jockeyed for. The top three all receive a cash bonus from a $50,000 fund, and the second and third steps on the podium are still in contention.
Beyond the Open, it’s a CCI4*-S field that also provides a look at some up-and-coming horses, many of whom will be in the next crop of five-star horses and Championship contenders, as well as some who will be stepping on to Morven Park and the US Open Final. Lucienne Bellissimo and Dyri — top-ranked by EquiRatings to win — are one such pair, as are Alyssa Phillips and Rocket 19, Canadians Katie Malensek (entered in the three-star at Morven Park as well as the four-star this weekend with Valeska and MRF Qwikstep) and Waylon Roberts (Chevalier and Fernhill Salt Lake, each in the top five of the EquiRatings Prediction Centere) and Kim Severson with Cooley Corraghy Diamond.

- Turned Around: Boekelo competitors can expect a refreshed look to the cross country course as designer Adrian Ditcham confirms the track will run in the opposite direction (so, counterclockwise) next month. This will be the first time the course has run in this direction since the Sue Benson design days, in 2017. You’ll need to translate this article from Dutch, but it’s a good update ahead of the October 1-4 running of the CCIO4*-L, which always attracts an entry list a mile long and provides a good preview of future top horses.
