Exciting news for those of you who prefer to stay as close as possible to the action at the Kentucky Horse Park: the popular KHP Campground is in the midst of $5 million in renovations and upgrades. Construction is officially underway and will continue in phases for about the next year.
Key highlights of the campground renovation project include:
- New Swimming Pool & Splash Pad Construction: Demolition of the existing pool facility and construction of a new swimming pool and splash pad complex located on the former basketball and sand volleyball court footprint.
- Sports and Entertainment Hub: Construction of a centralized recreational area featuring a newly installed 18-hole mini-golf course, playground, basketball and sand volleyball courts.
- Entertainment Pavilion: Construction of a new event and gathering covered pavilion in the primitive camping section.
- Campsite Pad Resurfacing: Milling and paving existing campsite pads to ensure smooth, level surfaces across all sites.
- Expanded Site Aprons: Widening entry and exit aprons at each campsite to improve maneuverability and prevent mud and grass wear.
- Campsite Patio Area: Constructing dedicated gravel patio spaces beside each site pad for fire pits and picnic tables.
