This week’s ears photo is coming to us from reader Jennifer, while she was out on a hack near her home in Parker Colorado. Prior to seeing this photo, I had no idea these critters called ‘mule deer’ even existed. Shows you how much I know. My horse Leo enjoys a little mule deer chasing on a regular basis. We have quite the overpopulation of these cute critters here making it a rarity not to run into them on our hacks and conditioning rides. Often times they will just be hanging out in the middle of the trail until we nearly run them over and then they move a few (literally 5-10 feet) off the trail to allow us to pass. I believe that they just wish these strange creatures that allow humans to sit upon did not create such inconveniences for them. Just don’t mess with the bucks, they are a bit treacherous as in “when animals attack!”
