A View From My Horse: Tribute to a friend from World Equestrian Brands

This week’s view is a beautiful one, but definitely has a sad story behind it. The photo is from reader Dana, of her recently deceased partner of sixteen years, Ladd. Losing a horse you’ve known for that long is certainly not an easy thing. Thanks to Dana for submitting and thank you for reading.

From Dana:

“Ladd was such an important and special horse.  We had a lot of trying and struggles in our years together but all in all we built our relationship on trust, love, and his BIG Heart.  I was blessed to have had him in my life for 16 years.  He died suddenly on Jan 24th.  Today he would have been 20 years old.  Ladd (Swift Solo Ladd) was a AQHA Registered QH/TB Cross.  I changed his name to the Rocketeer for USEA and eventing.  He struggled through dressage so that he could jump, but I admit that the dressage MADE him rideable in the jumping phases.  We only ever competed Novice and we also did Level 1 Jumpers.  In 2007 we did have the awesome experience of riding at Kentucky Horse Park for Midsouth Team Challenge, riding for our local eventing group, Blue Ridge Eventing Association.  Happy Birthday Buddy!  I miss you so much.”
