Cross-country day dealt a mixed hand for the U.S. Nations Cup team at Boekelo. Phillip Dutton popped off when Atlas hung a leg going into the coffin; both horse and rider were uninjured. Loughan Glen pulled a shoe at fence 10 in the first water and jumped well all the way around to 22, where he slipped out with his right front and missed the line to the corner, leading to an unfortunate runout. Jennie Brannigan and Cambalda and Jon Holling and Downtown Harrison both kicked around to finish without any jump penalties, while both pairs picked up time. While not counting for the Nations Cup team score, Clark Montgomery and Universe jumped a clear round with time and are currently the highest-placed U.S. pair, sitting in 33rd place. Michael Jung and Halunke FBW maintain a six-point lead over Andrew Nicholson and Quimbo.
