Sharon White jumped clean with six time penalties to move up into 3rd place overnight on Rafferty’s Rules.
Buck looked to be having a great round on Titanium, but pulled him up about five fences from home. He told me he’d lost some fitness, and was too nice of a horse to make him look bad by finishing the course exhausted.
Lauren Lambert had the fastest clear of the day, and I felt for her poor mother Martha who looked white as a sheet and couldn’t speak while she was going round. Lauren may feel like that before tomorrow’s show-jumping as Baba Creek isn’t the most conscientious, despite wonderful piloting, and a winter in Wellington training with Derek Braun.
Max McManamy picked up 40 penalties to lie in 20th place overnight
Emily Beshear had a steady clear on Here’s to You, building on future performances to finish with 15.6 time penalties and leave her in 10th.
Leslie had a super round on Rehy Lux, who finished full of running with 8.4 time penalties to retain 2nd place going into the jumping tomorrow.
Becky Holder also stays in her dressage position (8th) after giving Cant Fire Me a masterful round. I saw her towards the end of the course really steady Teddy for the log jump at 22 before the corner combination, then come round the turn to this fence and open the throttle – quite a sight to behold!
Kristin Bachman moved down a spot after cross country with a great clear but with 7.6 time,
and Diana Burnett moved Shigatzi up three places to 13th with a clear round.
Of course, Clark maintains his lead, but by an even wider margin after a fast clear for 4 time penalties, although Loughan Glen did look tired at the end. Congratulations to everyone today, it was a long, but ultimately safe day, and as the weather turns colder I need to find somewhere warm to get to all the * and ** photos and video uploaded, coming soon!
