A few weeks ago, we mentioned that the Canadian Team will be giving grants to several riders to compete at Badminton this year. The selectors have mad their picks, and I just spoke with Canadian Chef Graeme Thom who told me the selections are:
Steph Rhodes-Bosch and Port Authority
Hawley Bennett and Gin N’ Juice
Selena O’Hanlon and Colombo
These riders will receive funding for the trip to Badminton. There might be one or two more Canadian riders who end up going to Badminton as well, and I expect a couple of US riders will also go to Badminton, although it is still unclear if the USEF will provide any funding for their trip. Steph, Hawley, and Selena were Canada’s three highest placed team riders at the 2010 World Equestrian Games and led Canada to a team silver medal. It’s now a question of keeping the horses fit, and, most importantly, sound throughout the first few events here in the States. Go eventing.
