Colleen’s Sunday Links from Dubarry

Cross-country day at Pau produced mixed results for the U.S. Colleen Rutledge and Shiraz rocked the course, coming home with no jump penalties and 28 time penalties to sit in 25th in the CCI4*. That’s their fourth cross-country run with no jump penalties in four appearances at the four-star level. Two thumbs up for Colleen! Buck Davidson and Ballynoe Castle RM weren’t so lucky. Reggie wasn’t keen to jump down the bank at 6C into the water. After two stops, Buck called it a day. The four-star course took its toll; only 33 out of 65 starters completed. Samantha put together a fantastic commentary that breaks down the rest of the rides. In the CIC2*, Jules Stiller and Enjoy Me had a rockstar day. The two finished cross country with just 6.4 time penalties to sit in ninth place in a very competitive field. Well done, Jules! Show jumping starts at 9:15 a.m. (3:15 a.m. EST) with the CIC2*. The CCI4* show jumping begins at 2 p.m. (8 a.m. EST).

In other news, the Goresbridge Go For Gold Sale — featuring top eventing prospects — will be held Nov. 12-14 in Co. Wexford, Ireland. This sale features 75 horses ranging in age from 3 to 6, all of which have the potential to compete at the upper levels. Copper Beach, a 2011 graduate of the Goresbridge sales, won the CCI* at Bromont this year with Buck Davidson, so that gives you an idea of the quality of horses that are sold at this event. For much more information on Goresbridge, visit www.goresbridgegoforgold.com. Also, don’t forget to enter EN’s Facebook Cover Photo Contest. We pushed the submission deadline back to Friday, Nov. 2 to allow plenty of time to enter. We’ve received some really fantastic submissions and are excited to finally get a cover photo on our Facebook page. It’s looking rather naked right now.
