Yesterday marked the final day of the Developing Riders spring training session at Flying Tail Farms in Gilroy, Calif. Shannon Lilley has done a superb job of bringing us top-notch coverage of the California sessions. In her post from Day 3 of the sessions, she noted that new U.S. eventing team coach David O’Connor told the Developing Riders they must become “a student of the game.” While becoming a student of the game means studying the sport of eventing at every level, I found it particularly interesting that David said riding a dressage test is really a scientific pursuit. There’s a reason we say our geometry is off when we ride a 20-meter circle that’s shaped more like an oval. Here’s to riding perfect 20-meter circles today, Eventing Nation!
