We’re wishing Emily Hamel and Corvett the best of luck as they travel first to Belgium and then on to France for the final CCI5* of the year at Pau. The scoring at the US Equestrian Open Final was a shade tougher than predicted by Equiratings, but there were still some milestones achieved. Included in yesterday’s accomplishment is Phillip Dutton’s achievement of his best CCI4*-L test on U.S. soil since his days with Mystery Whisper, his horse for the 2012 Olympics. Chanel Minnifield and Nathan Williams-Bonner are heading to this week’s Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover on a mission that goes beyond ribbons. Representing Zen Heart Horsemanship, a California nonprofit co-founded by Minnifield to create affordable opportunities for riders of color and highlight the versatility of OTTBs, the pair will compete on Thoroughbreds sourced from CARMA. Their goal? To show that access, representation, and retraining can go hand-in-hand—and that the Thoroughbred’s second act can be every bit as brilliant as its first. Read more here.
