I just about froze to death yesterday riding in a Steuart Pittman clinic at Stonewood Farms in Dover, Pa. The Virginia Horse Trials also suffered through the bitter cold and wind, but don’t feel too bad for them. Brian Ross sent me several photos of everyone enjoying beer and s’mores around a roaring bonfire last night. Over on the West Coast, competitors at Galway enjoyed much different weather in sunny Temecula, Calif. James Alliston and Tivoli lead the CCI3* after a double-clear cross-country trip. Lauren Billys and Ballingowan Ginger lead the CCI2*, while Erin Kellerhouse and Roxabelle lead the CCI1*. We want to send our thoughts and well wishes to Alexa Perkiel, who suffered a rotational fall in preliminary and was taken away by ambulance. Jogs at Galway start this morning at 8:15 a.m. PST. CCI1* show jumping runs 11:15 a.m.-1 p.m. PST; CCI2* show jumping runs 1:20-2:20 p.m.; CCI3* jumping starts at 2:45-3:20 p.m. Stay tuned to Eventing Nation today for all the show jumping action from Galway.
