Jessie Phoenix showed her mettle this morning in the CCI*** dressage when just minutes before she was due to perform the first test of the day on her WEG, Burghley and Rolex mount Exponential he went inexplicably lame; she explains what it was all about in our video below, and then went on coolly and calmly to perform one of their best tests ever. Jessie also has Erodium here at Jersey Fresh, and her Pan Am partner Pavarotti. I meant to ask her about Patras VR’s background which is interesting – she originally rode him, I believe, as a stallion to get him ready for testing or showing, and then again when he was for sale I think, and as luck would have it he found her way back into her life as a gelding and they have had a fantastic career so far. I will try and get the full story from her again as I fear I may have got some of the details wrong, but it seems like the organisers were keen to get the party started, and Jessie was anxious to go and walk the course so I didn’t want to keep her much longer.
