Hurray, cross-country day is upon us! Sorry for outing you, whoever owns this truck, but this number plate was too good not to take a picture of! Words to live by…
I had such fun yesterday afternoon walking the CIC 2* with Leslie Law, Diana Burnett, Stephanie Cauffman and her mum Cindy, and then the prelim with Leslie and Eventing Safety John. The fences are all properly dressed now and look wonderful, and like a bride that’s been preparing for her big day for weeks, months even, the course is finally ready and the time has come…..
Stephanie usually trains with Missy Ransehousen, but Missy is fulfilling para-equestrian team trainer and chef duties in California this weekend, so Leslie stepped in and helped out with some helpful advice. Stephanie in turn measured out the water for us by virtue of being the only one wearing Dubarrys!
Between the combined experience of Leslie and Diana, the beautiful Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park, the sun that came out and warmed us, it was quite a treat.
Mostly Leslie kept his advice short and simple, and very positive. He was really impressed with how much more open and galloping the 2* course was, and remarked upon it several times. He’s also a lot of fun, he has a great sense of humour and knows how to keep everything in perspective.
Off to the park now. I wish all the riders safe rounds, and sound horses tonight. The sun is out which will make the day easier for the wonderful volunteers, and I pray for a faster internet connection, but I imagine I’ll be back at Starbucks later; this may be why I’ve been having trouble sleeping in Tallahassee…
Many thanks to Leslie, Diana, Stephanie and Cindy for letting me tag along.
Go cross country, Go eventing, Go Red Hills!
