The sun is already beginning to burn off the fog,(apologies to my English friends!) it’s going to be another beautiful day here at Poplar. First the CIC*** horses, nine remaining, have to get through the trot-up, then they’ll come forward to show-jump. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a lovingly designed and built set, the brain child of organiser Donna Stegman, course designer Jan Brodkin, and course built by wonderful Tyson Rementer. Each year they add something new, and I was lucky enough to chat with Jan for a couple of minutes as she was laying out the course for the CIC***.
Jan told me that still prefers to design all her courses on paper, but perhaps if she had more venues throughout the year she’d have to make an effort to modernise and do more on the computer. To me, the course looks wonderful, but then again, I don’t have to jump it! See what you think of these jumps….
In tribute to the last Olympic Games in Beijing
Good luck to all the competitors across all the divisions today. It doesn’t matter how pretty the jumps are, show-jumping will still remain my least favourite phase to ride – I feel your pain! Go clear and Go Eventing!
