Monday News and Notes from Fleeceworks

Silva Martin and Leo spend some quality time. Photo via Facebook.

Boyd and Silva Martin’s second son, Leo, is one week and one day old today. It’s been a tough introduction to the world for the little guy but we’re glad to hear he’s making progress. Silva is also recovering well from the c-section, though it can be difficult for active equestrians to slow down and take it easy (don’t we know it). Read more of Silva’s latest update here.

World #1 Oliver Townend and his winning Burghley CCI4* mount Ballaghmor Class won the CIC3* section at Burgham International Horse Trials this weekend, rising from fifth place after dressage to finish on top with two clear rounds, an important result for the pair short-listed for the British WEG team. The Event at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Montana, in the shadow of Glacier National Park, a 360 degree mountain view, and the bluest skies — not to mention the incredible athletes and courses — it’s a photographer’s dream venue. Relive the magic in pictures. [Through the Lens: The Event at Rebecca Farm]

Lauren Schiller and her Western pleasure-bred Quarter Horse gelding Romeo are AEC-bound, but it’s been a long, emotional road getting there. Standing by her horse of a lifetime through serious injuries and major setbacks, Romeo has returned the affection, stepping up to do the job and help Lauren realize her dream. Grab the tissues for this one, folks. [The Road to AEC: A Miraculous Recovery]
