Plantation Field Gives Back

Plantation Field's Denis Glaccum, left, and Katie Walker, second from right, present a $15,000 check to The Barn at Spring Brook Farm. Dan Stark, middle, and Mary Beth Drobish, right, were thrilled, as was Bonnie, one of the therapy animals at The Barn.

Plantation Field Horse Trials recently donated $15,000 to The Barn at Spring Brook Farm, a non-profit organization in Chester County, Pa., that provides free animal-assisted activities for children with disabilities. The Barn maintains a small herd of child-friendly animals — including miniature horses, donkeys, sheep, goats and rabbits — that are used in the organization’s therapy programs. This nonprofit provides a safe, caring environment for children with disabilities to receive physical therapy and participate in animal care and interaction, allowing them to gain knowledge, confidence and self-esteem.

Plantation Field also donated $2,500 to the Cheshire Land Preservation Fund to support the organization’s open-space initiatives. The fund seeks to promote and encourage the preservation of open space, agricultural resources and natural ecological systems in Southern Chester County, Pa. Through its efforts, there are now more than 30,000 contiguous acres near Plantation Field protected by conservation easements and deed restrictions that will permanently preserve their rural character and agricultural use.

We love to see the eventing community give back. Thanks, Plantation Field, for showing that the eventing community cares!
