Have you caught the “Downton Abbey” bug? I discovered the wildly popular television show a bit late in the game, but I have now watched all three seasons. As a big fan of the show — any other “Downton” nuts out there? — I’m super excited about Plantation Field’s first ever themed weekend, to be held in conjunction with the International Horse Trials this fall on Sept. 20-22. The first annual theme pays tribute to “Downton Abbey”!

The vendor village at Planation Field will become the “Village of Grantham Shoppes,” while the new Victory Beer Garden Pub will be dubbed the “Grantham Arms.” The new and improved sponsor tent will be decorated in an English country style, with all furniture and decor available for purchase.

The Saturday night CIC sponsor and owner cocktail party will be costume optional, following along with the proper English country theme. All tailgaters on cross-country day will be judged on their best use of the “Downton Abbey” theme, so start scheming now for how you plan to turn your tailgate spot into a proper scene from the English countryside that would make the Crawley family proud.
