This year, I’ve been doing some serious riding. All of the hours that I’ve been spending in the saddle mean that I also need a serious wardrobe. Because when I’m riding … I want to feel comfortable so that I can concentrate on my riding.

But I’m also willing to admit that I like to look the part as well. My riding wardrobe provides me with another opportunity to be able to make a statement with my personal style. And I so very much enjoy styling each and every one of my outfits.

I carefully choose each piece that I add to my wardrobe. When I select new pieces, I look for several important details: fit, function and fashion! All three are important to me. Because together, they unite to make pieces that I want to wear over and over again.

Breeches are something that are really at the heart of any of my riding ensembles. They are, perhaps, the hardest piece of riding apparel to find that ‘perfect fit’ with. Riders come in so many shapes and sizes, so having a lot of choices in brands and styles is so important!

Some of the pairs that I’ve been riding in this year are from Ariat’s broad collection of breeches. The first is the Ariat Denim Breech … and if you know me at all, you won’t be surprised that I was drawn to this particular pair of breeches.

I absolutely adore denim, and would wear jeans practically every day if I was able. Which is why it is a good thing that my professional wardrobe is jeans casual, but I digress. I am always on the lookout for yet another pair of denim breeches.

Some may shake their heads at the thought of denim breeches. However, I find that denim breeches can be comfortable, and wear ruggedly. I especially like to wear them when I’m riding out, and things like brushes or branch are brushing against me.

The Ariat Denim Breeches are quite simply chic looking. They are made with an indigo colored denim, that has a medium wash with hand sanding. And something that I personally love, are all of the little details.

The stitching of the Denim Breeches is a lighter color that contrasts with the denim, which just makes it pop! Each side seam has a cute little triangle that cuts in beneath the hips. The brown knee patches compliment the denim and also have the same stylish stitching.

I find the Heritage collection so very attractive because the designs deliver great performance for everyday wear, and they come with a modest price tag attached. Photo by Lorraine Peachey.

When I pulled them on for the first time, I was happy with the fit. The premium cotton stretch fabric hugged my curves in a way that was comfortable and flattering. And what’s more, I felt like I had enough coverage in all of the right places.

Wearing the Denim Breeches makes me feel like I’m wearing a pair of my favorite jeans. They look stylish, and I like the zip front and fancy button closure. And, I simply adore the subtle Ariat A design on the back pockets, which look fabulous while I’m wearing them.

Another pair of Ariat breeches that I have been wearing are the Heritage Hampton Low FZ Knee Patch. I find the Heritage collection so very attractive because the designs deliver great performance for everyday wear, and they come with a modest price tag attached.

The Hampton breeches are designed using a four-way stretch cotton fabric that fits my curves and moves with me while I’m riding. The fabric feels substantial, and it also does a terrific job at holding up to the rigors of everyday barn life.

Wearing and riding in the Hampton breeches has been a comfortable experience. While the fabric stretches and moves comfortably with my body, the V3 technology keeps my waistband in place nicely. Photo by Lorraine Peachey.

I also find myself drawn to the color palette. While the breeches are a lovely shade of chocolate brown, the light stitching looking simply stunning. The synthetic suede knee patches also blend in perfectly, with their perfectly matched tones and stitching.

The Hampton breeches are also very functional, with two side slant pockets and two rear pockets, all of which zip shut. The two rear pockets also boast two chic leather looking zipper pulls. They zip up and have a double loop closure in the front.

I do want to draw attention to the V3 technology, which provides a terrific fit for different body types. For me, this oh so subtle V that is integrated into the rear center of the waistband stretches to give me a close and comfortable fit — without any gaps!
