There I was, walking around the American Equestrian Trade Association (AETA) show. The time? Around 5 p.m., which means the trade show was coming to a close for the day. My feet were dog tired, and my brain was pretty much fried.

After an exciting day spent walking around and learning about new products, I was about ready to drop. Until, that is, I walked as a booth with an eye catching display of breeches. And let’s not forget the witty t shirts that said ‘Ask Me About My Breeches’!

Of course, the decision was made for me. As someone who has my own collection of t-shirts with whimsical sayings on them, I had to stop and learn more about Elation breeches. Even though I’m pretty well versed in breeches, Elation was a brand I was not familiar with.

I spent some time picking up and looking at the different pairs of breeches on display. I was happy to notice that the Elation breeches were both pleasing to the eye and felt to be of nice quality. I was also really surprised at the affordable price points!

So I’ve been riding in two pairs of Elation breeches; the Platinum Hudson Full Seat Breeches and the Denim Soho Full Seat Breeches. I started out wearing the Soho Breeches, because I’m a jeans girls at heart, and I love, love, LOVE a good pair of denim breeches.

The tan and white colored stitching of the Soho Breeches contrasts nicely against the dark colored denim, making features like the front and back pockets, belt loops and full seat simply pop. Photo by Lorraine Peachey.

The Denim Soho Full Seat Breeches are constructed out of a dark wash four-way stretch denim. From the first time that I pulled them on, I really appreciated the amount of stretch built into the fabric, which helped them to hug my waistline and provide a comfortable fit.

The Soho Breeches feature a premium RIMA leather full seat, which helps to provide a nice amount of grip while in the saddle. The Demi Cut Sport Stretch ankle (similar to an integrated sock) also helps to provide a smooth and snug fit at the bottom of the leg.

I’m someone who gets into the details, so I appreciate the two tone contrast stitching of the Soho Breeches. The tan and white colored stitching contrasts nicely against the dark colored denim, making features like the front and back pockets, belt loops and full seat simply pop.

The Platinum Hudson Full Seat Breeches have also been a dependable pair of breeches. The Hudson breeches offer fashion forward styling, combined with European cut. The lighter weight technical fabric also boasts 4 way stretch, which aids in comfort and function.

The slightly wider waistband also allows for a nice amount of stretch, and it hugs my waistline nicely to prevent any gaps. I like the front closure, which features a zipper and a two button Gutos closure (which is a type of hook and loop button).

Once again, the extra little styling details help to give Hudson breeches a really lovely appearance. The aqua blue stitching contrasts nicely against the black breeches, to give an understated pop of color. I also like the matching aqua blue piping along the waistline.

The premium RIMA leather full seat has black stitching, which helps it blend in nicely. And let’s not forget to mention that the Hudson breeches also include a Demi Cut Sport Stretch ankle to help provide a close and clean looking fit around the ankle.

Both the Denim Soho and the Platinum Hudson breeches provide a lovely fit, even for someone like me, who has a curvy body type. I was really happy to look in the mirror and find both pairs to look flattering, and feel comfortable during wear.

So what are my favorite features across both pairs of Elation breeches that I’ve been riding in? Well, I am definitely a fan of the 4 way stretch properties that the fabric of both breeches contain. The four-way stretch helps them to fit well, and causes the fabric to hold it’s shape.

I also appreciate the Demi Cut Sport Stretch ankle, which helps the bottom of the leg to have a close and comfortable fit under my tall boots. The breeches themselves are comfortable to ride in, and the fabric feels nice and smooth against my skin.

My inner fashionista is quite happy in Elation breeches as well. The details really help them stand out as a fashion forward breeches option. I’m a big fan of the contrast stitching of the Denim Soho breeches, and the aqua stitching and piping of the Hudson.
