We just received word from Buck Davidson that Andrea Leatherman punctured her lungs in a rotational fall earlier today at the Ocala Horse Trials. The fall claimed the life of her Thoroughbred mare Neveah. Buck reported that all of Andrea’s limbs are moving fine but she is in a lot of pain, in addition to recovering from a concussion.
As we reported earlier today, Andrea and Neveah suffered a rotational fall at the fourth jump on the intermediate cross-country course at Ocala. Neveah expired shortly after the fall. Andrea regained consciousness at the scene and was transported to Ocala Regional Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment for her injuries.
All of us at Eventing Nation wish Andrea a speedy recovery. As Buck said, Andrea is tough and we are confident Andrea will pull through this quickly. We extend our deepest condolences to everyone who knew and loved Neveah. This is a very sad day for the eventing community. We will continue to update you as we receive more information on Andrea.
