Saturday Links

Challenge: If anyone gets a group together and makes a human chain out of the words ‘Eventing Nation’, it will result in eternal weekend links greatness and an end to all other pointless links pictures.

Good Morning Eventing Nation, and welcome to the weekend! For many, I think the end to this week seemed like it would never arrive. But that’s the beauty of time, when havoc is being wrecked in our world, we can find solace in the consistency of the days turning into nights, and the nights to bring the promise of yet another fresh start to the day.

With all of the goings on of this past week, we haven’t given this events running this weekend the attention they are due, so here is some info to fill you in.
The Bramham CCI*** is taking place this weekend in England. Pippa Funnell had a great test on Billy Landretti to score a 37.4 and take the lead going into the cross country phase. She said of the ride, “I’m delighted as it’s the first time he’s performed to his potential and in such an atmosphere. He’s been really consistent in his one-day tests but I’ve not managed to nail it at this level yet. He’s not complete yet but has come a long way in a year.” Since her glory days on Supreme Rock and Primmore’s Pride, Pippa has had a rough go of it, so I am really hoping this weekend will end in her favor. Behind Pippa, it’s German domination with Simone Deitermann, Kirsten Thomsen, and Kai Rueder filling the second through forth placings, while fellow Brit, Polly Stockton and Regulus round out the top five.
On this side of the pond, the events are up and running as well. The Indiana Eventing Association Horse Trials and Three-Day Event is in their second day of competition. Anastasia Curwood and Cat Burgler lead the Training Three-Day division, while veteran eventers Cathy Wieschhoff and Dorothy Crowell sit in second and third going into cross country. In the Novice Three-Day competition, Kelsey Bricker leads the 11-horse division with Leah Go Bragh on her impressive dressage score of 29.5. It should be an exciting day of eventing down in Indiana!
